Take the Wedge Challenge with the Standard Brand (SB) Line of Wedge Mouthpieces
We have introduced the new Standard Brand Line of Wedge mouthpieces in order to simplify Wedge mouthpiece selection. The SB line is especially helpful for players who are quite satisfied with their current mouthpiece, and who would like to play a very similar mouthpiece with the advantages of the Wedge rim.
A mouthpiece in the SB line is made by doing a digital scan of the conventional mouthpiece. The cup and alpha angle are slightly modified, and a Wedge rim is programmed to produce a mouthpiece that has a feel and performance similar to the original, but with Wedge advantages.
The SB line is the gold standard test to see if you are a Wedge responder. If the Wedge rim is a good match for your embouchure you should note the following results with a Wedge SB mouthpiece matched to your current equipment.
- Fuller, more resonant lower register.
- More core to the sound in all registers.
- More ease of upper register.
- Better slotting.
- Improved flexibility.
- Cleaner articulation.
- Improved endurance.
- Less lip swelling.
The combination of better slotting with better flexibility is an interesting combination. Although the notes feel more centered with the Wedge it is easier to move from note to note while doing slurs or lip trills compared to a conventional mouthpiece.
