Student Loaner & Discount Program

In order to provide mouthpieces to students at a reduced rate we have introduced a student discount program using a teaching mouthpiece..

We are providing teaching mouthpieces to instructors associated with schools and colleges at 60% discount. There will be a charge of $90 for the teaching mouthpiece. Instructors are encouraged to let students take the mouthpiece home and play it for a two week trial period. If the mouthpiece is a good fit the student can then purchase a new Wedge from us at a 20% discount. However, because the trial period will have already occurred with the teaching mouthpiece, the Wedge cannot be returned once purchased. It can be exchanged for a different size.

The teaching mouthpiece can also be used to help the student develop a forward, centrally focused embouchure, even if the student has no inclination to switch to the Wedge. Playing the mouthpiece for even a short time during a lesson with appropriate coaching illustrates to the student the importance of good corner control, without which the student will leak air. This improved corner control will translate into better performance on the conventional mouthpiece after going back to it from the Wedge. Try it!

How can you get a teaching mouthpiece?

Instructors can contact Dr Dave and request to join the program by completing a brief written application with telephone follow up verifying that the instructor is affiliated with a school or college, and that the mouthpiece will be used for teaching purposes. We will then send out one or two teaching mouthpieces to begin the program.
