Mario Gigliotti's Biography

Mario Gigliotti graduated in trumpet from the Cosenza Conservatory (Italy) in 1993. He attended various masterclasses with international and famous musicians such as Giancarlo Parodi, Thomas Stevens, Pierre Thibaud, Timofei Dokshitster and Andrea Conti.

From 1997 to 2000 He has participated to an advanced masterclass for symphony orchestra and studied with the famous American trumpeter Stephen Burns.

He has played in numerous Italian Orchestras, includin Orchestra del teatro comunale di Bologna, Orchestra dell’ Arena di Verona, Orchestra Haydn, Orchestra Sinfonica Arturo Toscanini di Parma, Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della RAI, Orchestra dell’ Arena di Verona, Orcherstra Sinfonica dell’Emilia Romagna “A. Toscanini”, Orchestra  del Teatro Comunale di Bologna, Orchestra del Teatro La Fenice di Venezia, Orchestra del Teatro San Carlo di Napoli.

He has toured extensively to USA, Japan, South Korea, Morocco, South Africa and India.
Mario has play under many with great conductors, including Riccardo Muti,  Lorin Maazel,  George Pretre,  Daniel Oren, Myung Whun Chung,  Mstislav  Rostropovic,  and Rafael Fruhbeck De Burgos.

Since 2005 has held the position of first cornet in Italian Navy Military Band and since 2013 he has been the first cornet in Italian Brass Band, winner of the International European Brass Band Championships in 2015.
