The Gabriel Signature Line

The Gabriel line of mouthpiece tops was designed for our original endorsing artist, Vancouver performer and producer Gabriel Hasselbach. Gabriel plays exclusively Wedge mouthpieces on trumpet and flugelhorn. His most recently released CD, Gabriel - Cool Down, was recorded on Wedge equipment.

Harrison mouthpieces worked with Gabriel to design a special mouthpiece to his own specifications. The Gabriel has the following features.

  • Based on 10.5 cushion rim with increased OD for added comfort.
  • Extra wide shoulders on lateral rim.
  • Reduced (0.015") lateral dip for more even distribution of pressure around the circumference of the rim.

Four models - Gabriel C, Gabriel ED, Gabriel EF, Gabriel FLX.

Gabriel C Top

This is a general purpose mouthpiece with a medium cup. It has a full lower register and works well for all round playing.

Gabriel ED Top

This cup is intermediate between a Wedge D and Wedge E cup. It is a great choice for pops or lead playing where ease of upper register is a priority, but where a full mid to low register remains important.

Gabriel EF Top

This is the newest cup in the Wedge line. The EF cup is very similar in depth to the F cup, but has a slightly lower alpha angle and more bowl shaped bottom with a sharper shoulder into the throat. It produces a big, cutting sound, while being more resistant to bottoming out than the F cup. This is a dedicated lead piece.

Gabriel FLX Top

The Gabriel FLX has the Gabriel rim and a deep FLX flugelhorn cup.

The Gabriel is an ideal rim for a player who likes the Wedge design, but who is sensitive to the pressure produced by the contoured rim on the upper lip. The design retains the Wedge playing characteristics with the advantage of an extremely comfortable cushion rim.

Gabriel rims are available by special order in all diameters.

Testimonials

"Wedge mouthpieces provide excellent focus for both sound and pitch. This tonal focus makes finding those note "slots" much easier and aiming for those slots becomes much more reliable. Since playing on a Wedge, I have already noticed an improvement in my overall intonation when playing with others. In addition to these characteristics, the Wedge is the most comfortable feeling mouthpiece I have ever played. The contour of the rim feels like it's actually forming to your lips! If all of these assets are something you're searching for, then try out a Wedge!"
