Flugelhorn Mouthpieces

Original Wedge FLX flugelhorn mouthpieces have a very deep V shaped cup designed to produce an extremely dark, mellow flugel sound. However, the efficiency of the Wedge rim means that this can be accomplished without compromising endurance and upper range performance.

The Regular flugel cup is moderately deep, similar to the depth of a Bach flugelhorn cup. FLX and Regular depth flugel mouthpieces can be ordered from the Flugelhorn section of the Wedge store.

The Wedge flugel uses a screw off shank or backbore. One top can be mated with a backbore for Bach, American (Yamaha, "Standard"), or French tapers.

We also offer a trumpet backbore designed to allow the flugel top to be used in your trumpet. The result is a very rich, mellow sound that is intermediate between a very dark cornet and a flugel. The sound is similar to that of a rotary trumpet. It also plays in tune. It is a nice alternative for ballads when you do not have a flugel at your disposal, and it really fun to play.
